The COVID-19 response has put a tremendous strain on the agency and its ability to help those impacted. The number of families it helps has at least doubled and will continue to grow. Along with schools and businesses closed, and safe-at-home in place, it is also impacting the partnering nonprofits’ way of helping hungry families in our communities. The current need to help feed those who have been added to the unemployment rolls due to the COVID-19 pandemic is staggering.

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks' network is made up of 12 Feeding America foodbanks and 3,601 member food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and supplemental feeding programs, serving all of Ohio’s 88 counties.
Together, the network distributed 229,546,132 pounds of food totaling 191.3 million meals in 2019, including everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy items, and meats and protein to breads, dry goods, and shelf-stable foods.

Those nearly 230 million pounds of food served Ohio families 3,438,315 times. Some of those households came to a food pantry just once for help in an emergency. Others came a handful of times when paychecks came up short. Still others rely on the network regularly for help. The Ohio Association of Foodbanks strive to be there when Ohioans need them.

In total, Ohio's foodbanks provided food to 9,458,206 individuals in 2019, including 2,871,974 children (30.4%), 4,689,228 adults (49.6%), and 1,897,004 seniors (20.0%).

The regional foodbanks in Ohio are: Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Greater Cleveland Foodbank, Freestore Foodbank, Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, Second Harvest Food Bank of MahoningValley, Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign & Logan Counties, SEOhio Foodbank and Kitchen, Shared Harvest Foodbank, The Foodbank, Inc., Toledo Northwestern Ohio Foodbank, and West Ohio Foodbank. These food banks service all 88 counties in the state of Ohio.
